Closure of PanLogica

Our journey with PanLogica in Tasmania, Australia started back in 2015, in collaboration with the MOWI group. Together, we established an integration between Mercatus Future and Neptune, laying the foundation for the powerful optimization services we offer today. Our partnership reached a new milestone when ScaleAQ acquired PanLogica in July 2019. Since then, we’ve collaborated closely, achieving significant milestones like the optimization engine and, more recently, a machine learning algorithm for growth and mortality calculation.

In the spirit of continuous improvement, we had a strategic discussion with Dr. David Wright, the CEO of PanLogica after Aqua Nor in August 2023. We collectively recognized that our strategic focus is shifting towards strengthening optimization efforts in Norway and merging Mercatus Future and Neptune into a unified, powerful platform and that Dr David Wright and Nicole Wright would leave the company.

David Wright’s role as CEO has been instrumental in PanLogica’s journey, and his contributions have been invaluable. Considering the significant impact of his leadership, we jointly concluded that the current structure of PanLogica would face challenges without him at the helm. It is with mixed emotions that we announce the winding down of PanLogica’s operations by the end of July 2024. However, this transition marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter.

Optimization has been and will continue to be a significant focus within the Future product. We firmly believe that this area will see further growth and innovation. It demands highly specialized expertise in optimization, a skillset that we consider essential for the Future team as we move forward.

We shared this news with our PanLogica team on Monday, acknowledging the dedication and contributions of our colleagues. We want to extend our deepest appreciation to Dr. David Wright for his invaluable contributions to the aquaculture industry and his pioneering work in the field of optimization.
