First cloud-based milestone for Mercatus

Today, the Mercatus team has taken a big step in the process of lifting the Mercatus portfolio Farmer, Future and Finance to the cloud.  “Lifting Mercatus to the cloud” means that all Mercatus customers will access the same version of Mercatus, a version hosted by us in our Azure-based infrastructure.

Among other things, the advantages of such a solution are that all customers automatically get the latest updated version when they log in, and we only need to update one installation instead of many different customer-specific installations every time we release an update or upgrade. Having all customers on the same cloud-based version will make it much easier to maintain and further develop our portfolio, and it will also be easier to build integrations and share data with other systems.

Our largest Mercatus customer is Mowi, which is divided into several geographic business units. Together, we’ve chosen to use Mowi Canada East as a test customer, and as of today they are running Mercatus on our Azure infrastructure.

The other Mowi units (Canada West, Chile, UK, Norway) will follow in the coming months. Other customers will be lifted to the cloud during the second half of the year, although some of them might have to wait even longer due to customer-specific adaptations and integrations built into their Mercatus-installations in the past.
