Christian Sauterel, Director of Production at Australis Seafood, will be our new CEO in Chile.
Following Carlos’s resignation in September, the board has worked diligently to recruit a new manager for Chile.
We set strict criteria, one of the most important of which was a deep understanding of the industry and practical knowledge of fish farming. There has been an extensive screening process of over 50 candidates, and extensive interview rounds on a selection.
We are pleased to announce that just before Christmas we put the final pieces in place and signed a new CEO for Chile.
Cristian Sauterel joins us in February from Australis Seafood. Australis is one of the 14 Chilean fish farming companies. He currently holds the role of production director with responsibility for sea, freshwater and fish health.
Cristian has an impressive CV with a background as a veterinarian, but has spent the last 12 years in various production management roles. Prior to Australis, he worked at Marine Harvest (now Mowi).
At Australis, he has significantly improved the company’s production and biological results, and in recent years has been a driver for the use of data as a production management tool. The operations center he has developed remotely controls sites up to 1300km away from the center in Puerto Varas, while large amounts of data on equipment and biology are used to manage daily production.
We believe this approach will be extremely important for the modernization Chile will go through in the coming years, and at the same time be able to meet the demands we place on ourselves, and the demands of the breeders as digital plays an increasingly important role in everyday life and our products.
