An inspiring visit to ScaleAQ Chile

Dear colleagues in ScaleAQ,

Last week I had the pleasure to visit our organization in Chile. It was really nice to get to know our Chilean colleagues, to see the ScaleAQ facilities in Puerto Varas, to visit key customers, and to see how strong our foundation, reputation and position is becoming in Chile as well.

I had the chance to meet most of our employees in Puerto Varas, and I was impressed by the people I met – the organization, the passion and the drive that was shown in all disciplines.

I was also very pleased to see the focus and attention we put on employee health and security, as well as the focus on sustainability. The assembly of the steel cages, carried out at sea on-site, sometimes under harsh weather conditions, was particularly impressive. These are extremely tough operations that need to be managed carefully – all very well managed by our service team – the warriors of the sea.

Although we have not been able to have much physical interaction between Scale Chile and Norway during the pandemic, ScaleAQ Chile has done an amazing job in building a strong Scale organization, based on our common values, a passion for implementing improvements, and building a strong partnership with our customers.

I also enjoyed meeting the key people of some of our key customers: AquaChile, MOWI, MultiExport and Cermaq. They all expressed having a very good impression of Scale and our future potential.

It was especially nice to see one of the first fully remotely operated feed centers in Chile, fully set up by ScaleAQ in Chile, at the headquarters of MultiExport.

Some particular challenges in Chile include sea lions that attack a number fish farms, and some political uncertainty. However, these challenges give us an opportunity to create more robust, sustainable and exposed ScaleAQ solutions for the future.

Based on the initial discussions with customers, there also seems to be a very nice opportunity with our newly acquired company Maskon in Chile, combined with the local organization.

My ambition going forward is for us to combine our best efforts across our countries and functions, to improve even more, and together build an even stronger position for ScaleAQ Chile in the future.
