The Name is Chosen: Heimdall – our New Closed Cage

A big thank you to everyone who contributed name suggestions! We received an impressive 152 entries from multiple countries, and it’s been truly exciting to see such strong engagement around our upcoming closed cage.

After careful consideration, we have chosen the name Heimdall – a name that continues our tradition of drawing inspiration from Norse mythology. With Heimdall, the new closed cage joins a proud lineup of powerful, symbolic product names such as Midgard, ScaleAQ’s unique net suspension system, and Åsgard, our most robust barge designed for the most exposed sites.

In Norse mythology, Heimdall is the guardian of Bifrost, the rainbow bridge that connects Åsgard to Midgard – the realm of the gods to the world of humans. This powerful metaphor aligns perfectly with our new technology: a cage designed to safeguard fish and shield them from sea lice and pathogens in the upper water layers. Heimdall represents vigilance, strength, and protection – values that are deeply reflected in the solution we are now unveiling.

Several people submitted the name Heimdall, but the first to do so was Conor Foster, who will receive a well-deserved reward for the great and fitting suggestion.

We look forward to sharing more about Heimdall in the near future – and above all, to seeing how this innovation will contribute to safer and more sustainable aquaculture.
